After two years of office work on the new automation system development, it took less than two weeks for our engineers to complete the migration of the beer and cider production to the new process control system in Heineken Sedibeng brewery in South Africa.
By commissioning the third line of the brewhouse, Montelektro has modernized production in one of the most complex plants in this part of the world.
It is also considered the biggest Heineken project ever done as it included the replacement of over 10 000 components in one phase. Our engineers spent 10 000 working hours for preparation, design, and engineering, and over 5 000 hours for commissioning. The new Brewmaxx process control system has made it possible to improve production. With a new process control system, Sedibeng is provided with modern software, the ability to restore the fundamental conditions by removing all workaround, and better checks on equipment and the process.
It also brought functionalities for troubleshooting such as logging on operator level, video mode, better visualization of issues, the ability for the operator to check conditions for the next step in the sequence, and many others. All these should support Heineken’s brewery in increasing production capacity by 30 %.
By implementing the project in South Africa, Montelektro has again confirmed its leading position in the system integration of breweries. On the occasion of completing the agreement, Montelektro’s CEO, Mr. Edvin Šafranko, said: “Continuing the cooperation with the existing client is always a good sign of successful previous work. We are delighted to be selected to implement such a large project that will support our client in his future growth and development.”
